Book Launch and Exhibition of my talented friend Renata Jaroscakova is being held 16th-18th April 2021 at Osaragi Jiro Memorial Museum, Yokohama.

I met Renata through the community at my children's school about 7 years ago, and we were in the same class with French lesson. Not to mention her great camera talent, her friends have also been involved in the publication in various ways, with their great talents. It was a good experience for me to know the wonderfulness of the friends around her. This time, I helped her to teach Adobe InDesign the basic of making page layout, inserting photos and texts, page numbering, better communication with a printing company.

One day in August 2020, Renata contacted me, "I would try to edit it by myself, so would you please teach me how to use InDesign?" When I asked for details, "100-150 pages around, with full-color, the printing company would be in the U.S...I never used InDesign myself." ... To be honest printing matter is my specialty but I thought, "Renata, are you serious!?!?" However, we made clear each question she had about the colors, fonts, printing methods, etc., step-by-step and, finally she made it!!!!

InDesign is a software application specializing in creating books, and it can be daunting to see it for the first time. (I admit that.) Renata sighed but worked so hard, and I was surprised she had created 130 pages by herself!! I was impressed by her attitude of not giving it up.

On the other hand, Renata kindly taught me how to take pics with natural light professionally that I wanted to learn for my work. She taught me politely a little bit about photography, and I was able to connect with other clients for that. I felt we have taken a step forward for each other's future.

Congratulations Renata! You are amazing. Otsukaresama desu!!!

2021年4月16日より18日まで、横浜の大佛次郎記念館で私の友人であるレナータ・ヤロシャコヴァーさんが、フォトグラファーとしての自身の写真集「MY YOKOHAMA」の出版記念パーティーを開催しています。

レナータとは、子供達の学校が一緒で、そのコミュニティを通じて知り合い、以前はフランス語のクラスも一緒でした。彼女のカメラの才能も素晴らしいのはもちろんのこと、彼女の友人も、色々な才能を生かして、この出版に色々なところで携わっており、周囲の友人の素晴らしさも知れた良い経験となりました。今回私は本、カタログ作りに特化したAdobe・InDesignでページレイアウトに関する写真や文字の挿入、ナンバリング、等の基本の使い方、印刷会社とのやりとりを一緒に進めました。

2020年8月のある日、レナータより「自力で制作をするので、InDesignの基本の使い方を教えて欲しい」、と連絡があり、詳細を聞くと「130ページのフルカラー希望、印刷会社はアメリカ、InDesignは使ったことがない！」とのことでした。正直、「本当！？！？」と。しかし元々印刷は私の得意な分野でもあるので、使用するRGBやCMYKの色のこと、フォントのこと、印刷方法等１つ１つの疑問をリサーチし、メールや打合せでクリアにしていきました。

InDesignは印刷関連に特化した専門的なソフトでもあり、初めて見ると気が遠くなるような気持ちになります。（私も最初はそうでした。）レナータはため息つきながらも日々進め、130にも渡るページを制作したあとは私も驚きました。そのあきらめない姿勢に心を打たれました。

レナータは彼女の持ち味であるカメラについて、私が勉強したかった自然光をうまくとりいれたブツ取りの方法を教えてくれました。そのおかげで他のクライアントさんとも繋がることができ、写真に関して素人な私にも丁寧に教えてくれました。お互いの未来のために１歩踏み込めた気がします。

故郷を離れ異国の地でも、ライブ感を持って活動的に活躍している彼女からたくさんのエネルギーをもらっています。

レナータ、おめでとう！お疲れ様！！
